Choosing Your First Quad or Pit Bike

Start with the rider, then choose the machine.

Engine size and motor wattage are only part of the picture. Rider fit, experience, controls and the place you intend to ride matter too. Ask us for the seat height, controls and preparation details of the exact model you’re considering.

Quad, petrol pit bike or electric dirt bike?

Kids’ quad: four wheels and model-specific controls. Compare dimensions, brakes, throttle controls and whether reverse is fitted. Four wheels do not remove the risk of overturning.

Petrol pit bike: compare automatic, semi-automatic and manual models. Check wheel size, seat height and the rider’s ability to operate the controls.

Electric dirt bike: compare dimensions, battery and charger specifications, charging time and the manufacturer’s operating instructions. Wattage alone does not establish suitability.

Five things to check before ordering

  1. Exact model, colour and current stock or preorder status.
  2. Rider fit and the manufacturer’s age and weight guidance.
  3. Whether the machine is supplied assembled and PDI’d or crated.
  4. Collection or delivery arrangements and any additional costs.
  5. Protective equipment, a suitable permitted riding area and adult supervision where needed.

These machines are intended for off-road use; do not assume a model is road legal. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions and use appropriate protective equipment.
